You have created a good list! I really agree with The Lord of the Rings and Easy Rider. Great flicks showing off great scenery!

I wouldn't feel moved--emotionally or physically--by the movies on Budget Traveler's list.
But I agree with Daniel about "The Motorcycle Diaries." I'd also add "Whale Rider," which had some pretty spectacular New Zealand scenery.
For movies about Cuba, I'd add "Suite Habana."

Heh, Indiana Jones... Is it just me, or do other people imagine the red line on the map moving when they're on a plane to someplace? Dum da-dum dum... dum da-dum... (Raiders March)

Interesting list! You might add The Beach, The Motorcycle Diaries, 7 Years in Tibet...

I'm surprised to see Lost in Translation in the "inspirational" list, but admittedly Tokyo can be a stunning place. On the other hand, knowing that I might bump into Leo DiCaprio somewhere in Thailand could convince me to hide in a little box in my basement.

You may also consider movies that made people afraid to go anyplace:

Touristas, Hostel, Brokedown Palace?

And how about Murder on the Orient Express? Just thinking about being stuck on a train with Albert Finney as Poirot creeps me out...
