Great article. I sometimes hate coming home espically when you know that all that's waiting for you is a bill and returning to the places you were travelling away to begin with.

Thanks for the info. I returned from a 20 day vacation in Brazil. Just coming back from the heat to the cold was a shock! I have been back for two weeks. I understand the post travel blues. I have been busy with work and posting travel pics on my Facebook. Once I get my taxes done, I am putting my return into savings for my next trip back to Brazil.

Sometimes I think reverse culture shock is much harder to get over than culture shock. Good point about seeking other travelers. It's funny how when you live abroad with people from around the world you can feel like you're better understood than when you're back home with people who grew up the same way you did.

It's different with me, or i guess it depends on your vacation trip on where you go.
Because i was stressed out from over worked and my vacation trip was to the Caribbean island of Dominican Republic at charlisangels adult sex vacations, with
great European and Russian escorts in private beach villas, and when you come from a vacation like that you can't help but to look forward to over worked again, so you can go back, one of the best things about my trip is that it's an all inclusive packages.

The article gives a wonderful insight into how to make the most of one's travel. It's really good to put together all those photograpgs, be in touch with the local expats, write about your experiences and arrange dinner parties.

A good article with some good ideas!

Yeah, thanks Josh - good to see you on BNT.

Kirsty - I agree, a 5 hour monologue isn't fun for anyone, but I think the great part of the dinner party is that it immerses guests in the feel of the foreign country, even if the conversation is about the last episode of Lost.

Hi Kirsty, great tip. It does make others feel appreciated when you're interested in their adventures, even when they didn't leave their home.

And Josh, great post. Thanks for sharing it.

Here's my take on dealing with reverse culture shock, which I compare to a cold bucket of water in the face:
