The Globe and Mail had a great story today about three monks who escaped the crackdown in Rangoon and are in hiding in Thailand. Unlike much of the news out of Burma it actually manages to be uplifting: “The regime will not last much longer. As Buddhists, we have the power of love.”

Thanks for the roundup Tim. I think it’s vitally important that each concerned person does their own part to spread the word and keep attention on the crisis in Burma. If you’re a painter – paint a picture. If you’re a blogger – blog it. If you’re a store owner, maybe put a little info pamphlet on the counter. Small things add up to bigger change.

As I’m sure you can tell, I wrote this edition of Tales From the Road last week, before the crack-down. Thousands of monks and protesters are in prison or missing and the military is firmly in control of the major cities.

Keep thinking Burma, keep reading, keep learning, keep praying – it might feel hopeless, but we do what we can.
