By the way, your mention of both "Bethlehem" and "Song of Hypothermia" makes me think you would enjoy two recent Travelers' Tales books: Encounters with the Middle East, edited by Nesreen Khashan and Jim Bowman, and Antarctica: Life on the Ice, edited by Susan Fox Rogers.
