All good tips for saving your sanity. When you are traveling across time zones and are burnt out sometimes you just need some downtime. Because customers don't like to feel out of touch I like to schedule emails ahead of time (usually when I'm on the plane). That way I can plug my laptop in wherever in the world I might be and they'll get updates in their time zone. I know it may seem like I'm being tricky but I don't look at it that way. I look at it as taking care of myself (with sleep and a proper amount of R&R) while showing my customers I care by getting them messages when they are at work.

I wrote a quickie how-to on scheduling emails, it's amazing how many people don't know this trick. Check it out...

Thanks so much. I've recently shifted to work-from-home in the preparation to work from anywhere and even though I'm at home, I'm still experiencing burnout. Thanks for the pointers, I look forward to checking out your blog!

This is an excellent post, very helpful! I had forgotten about travel burnout; we all need reminders to cool it.

Well thought out list.

I'd like to add that you have to be true to yourself. We all have internal rhythms and patterns that dictate how we live our lives. Some of us are nighthawks, while others are early risers. Maybe you can need to eat at regular intervals or maybe you can go for hours without a nibble.

If you're trying to keep up with someone who is your polar opposite, that could be causing you more stress than you realize.

Flexibility is necessary for travel, but sometimes your body simply needs what it needs.
