I've got a couple of Classic tunes that have not been mentioned. Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" (which was also Evel Knevel's theme song) has to be mentioned as well as "Vacation" by the Go-Go's. Honorable mention tunes could include, "Hit The Road Jack", made famous by Ray Charles and re-invented by Buster Poindexter. The last tune was made famous by the movie, "National Lampoon's Vacation", Holiday Road by Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham.
Just a few to "get your roadtrip on" with!

not too fond of most of the songs on this list, but i feel that the best travel songs are more personal than just songs that talk about traveling...
in my opinion backpacking is the way to go and the mellow tunes are good but sometimes you need the extra kick to keep you going.

i could go on forever but heres some of my top hits:
Porcelain-moby
que sera-wax tailor
rolled-lemon jelly
shadow of ourselves-thievery corporation
hang tan-toubab krewe
no rain-blind melon
lake michigan-rouge wave
warning shots-thievery corporation
universal traveler-AIR
anywhere i go-slightly stoopid
hard sun-eddie vedder
all we have-brett dennen
old pirate-velours perfect
what are you afraid of-west indian girl
danse macabre-kraak & smaak
superstylin-groove armada
woman (mstrkrft remix)-wolfmother
satellite-guster
clocks-coldplay
summer breeze-seals and croft
Transatlantic-Quantic
in the waiting line-zero 7
everybody got their something-nikka costa
do you realize-flaming lips
west coast-coconut records
bam bam-sister nancy
yo(brazilian mix)-bassnectar

This list would probably be a list of me least favorite songs/artists ever...

Anyways, here are a few of my top picks:
"Rains in Asia" - Jump Little Children
"Take Back the City" - Snow Patrol (it's about Belfast)
"Saeglopur" - Sigur Ros
