Hi Tyge, thanks for your comments. Your Christian perspective sheds some light on another way of asking religion to do it's part to safeguard the earth. Also, you offer an interesting perspective on the RFID chips -- one that some may consider verging on science-fiction. Then again, a lot has happened in the past few years that could be deemed unlikely. I'm definitely moved to read more on the subject.

First and foremost I am a Christian man who believes in God as Christ among us. The bible warns of things to come but that doesnt mean God wanted, caused or ordained them.

We are no where near the end of the world yet! but this is The End Times described in the bible,...the end of Satans reign here, Christs departure, the time of Christs judgement etc. The bible states that there will be another 1000 years of peace after all this New World Order, one world government(UN/US), one world religion & one world monotary system (mark of the beast=Verichips RFID chips) falls apart. Satans reign is actually destroyed by God causing a thousand more years of peace on earth, then he will be released for a while, then he will be destroyed, man will be judged, earth will then be destroyed and then finally no longer exist.

Either way people believe does'nt change the fact that there will still be another thousand years here so people better start waking up and thinking of our children who are going to inhererit this beautiful earth we are destroying.

The bible warns of things to come like earthquakes, a 3rd of the waters and sun turning to blood (or red from polution etc) but that doesnt mean God caused it. The world was handed to us with freewill and sin/coruption to show what sin/coruption does to paradise and why it can't be in heaven.

People teach of a rapture but I believe that it is a misconception meaning our death. "No man knows the hour or the day of the Lord so be ready", "Two will be standing and one will be left", "Christ will judge as "a refiners fire..as a launderers soap" (meaning Christ risen will cleanse us of sins, not kill us with actual fire then snatch up any so called Christian from this antichrist guy.)

There is no antichrist either other than ANY MAN who says there is no Christ. The beast is a nation (UN/US) not the devil although he is the ruler of the beast). Verichip corporations RFID tags are the mark of the beast planned to go into affect in 2008 to start chipping the worlds population. Concentration camps for those who rebel against the government are being built near or on old railroad stations as we speak. The largest one is in Alaska which holds millions of people. They are all empty now.

I dont believe so called Christions will be saved from this. When they start to jail and then kill people, only true believers will prevail.

Hi Trip -- you're absolutely right about giving references for sources. I'm positive Derek has them to back up his claim, but as editor, I take full responsibility for publishing without ensuring links to the statistics in question. I've since added some links above.

As for your comment on linear religion versus cyclic, that's a fascinating point. I have never read such a comparison, but having studied Buddhism for a few years now, I'm inclined to believe cyclic religions are more in tune with the nature of our environment - the seasons, birth and death of all things, etc.

But I will attempt to seek out an author for a guest post on this issue.

I have often wondered if people having a linear spiritual view(Christianity) would be less inclined to make environmentally conscious behavior/conumer choices than those with a cyclic spiritual view(eg Hinduism,Buddhism). Then again, marketing and economics probably has much greater influence that understood spiritual trajectory. But, I think people are beginning to come around. Businesses are realizing that environmentally conscious choices are imperative and that they can actually profit from them. And, consumer demand is also coming around. I would like to see an article showing this progress(both in business practices and consumer demand). Derek, I also think you need to give references for the statistics you use in the the article.
