Nonsense values are ALWAYS subjective because they are derived directly from subjective experience. People with really different ideologies base their ideas on different concepts and axioms. Which are often mutually exclusive. How do you reconcile a Marxist with Libertarianism? Or a Religious a fundamentalist with social liberalism? The answer is you dont. The foundations of these systems of thought are fundamentally different. Of course you can cite philosophers like Kant as examples of Objective moral systems. However deciding which one to choose is itself a decision based on the limited individual perspective.

Cool! Thanks :)

I came back to this thread because I was following the comments following an article on Wisebread about socialism. The audience response was rather... Interesting. A lot of people were upset that the subject was discussed, but there were just as many people who praised the article. (if you're curious, it's at http://www.wisebread.com/three-reasons-to-stop-fr...

Hey, CG - I know I'm talking a lot on this one, but I wrote Jonathan Haidt for information and he sent me his empirical data. You can get the same if you're interested, if you e-mail the co-author Jesse Graham at jgraham@virginia.edu. Otherwise, more info is here: http://faculty.virginia.edu/haidtlab/mft/index.ph...

Mr. Haidt tells me his work was published in the top social psych paper, and reviewed very favorably. The "final verdict" is coming out this month.

Hope this helps!
