The subtext behind much of the swine flu coverage is to avoid Mexico and Mexicans, despite the fact that the swine flu can actually be traced back to the U.S pork industry and factory farming. The original case of swine flu happened in an area of Mexico that has been seriously polluted by U.S pork farms, where the animals are constantly sick and pumped full of antibiotics and the soil and land has been ruined by chemicals. Of course, no one wants to talk about that, which is why the pork industry had to put pressure on the government to change the name of the virus... Great point about cultural and racial segregation.
