What We Publish
We want stuff that has an edge. We want to push the boundaries of travel, spirituality, and religion. After all, our magazine is called Brave New Traveler - which implies forging onward into the unknown territories of the mind.
Here’s a few examples of the type of posts we mean:
- 10 Films Guaranteed To Blow Your Mind
- 5 Dreams You Could Experience While Traveling
- Could You Be A War Photographer?
- Budget Travelers Are Hippie Scum
You get the idea. We’re looking for articles that refuse to play it safe. We’re looking for articles that invoke a reaction in the reader, that demand a rebuttal, that slay sacred cows (whatever that means).
What We Don’t Publish
This means we do not publish “destination based” travel articles. These articles are narrative in nature, such as “My Trip To Ireland” where the article is travel guide about a place, or a review of the local restaurants, hotels, etc. So basically, ask yourself, is my article speaking to a greater theme in travel? Does it push the boundaries of thought/exploration?
If in doubt, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Length Of Articles
Given the fact that blog readers are inclined to favour shorter posts, we generally limit the length of an article between 800-1100 words.
In certain cases, we will go shorter or longer, but most long articles can usually be cut down with a tighter focus on the topic at hand.
Editing
Your article, no matter how amazing, will likely be edited in some way. We do this for brevity, focus, and to generally smooth out the article.
Your title may also be changed to reflect a more compelling description of the content, and to target any keywords for the search engines. Please don’t take it personally. I’m sure your title is great as well, it’s just we want to maximize the amount of readers that will find and love your great content.
Payment
We pay $25 per original published article.
What is an original published article? It’s an article that is not published anywhere else (including your own blog). This is important for a variety of reasons, but mostly to avoid search engine confusion.
Reprinted articles will remain unpaid, since the reward for an article reprint is usually wider author visibility and traffic sent to their own blogs/websites.
Payments are made through Paypal. NO EXCEPTIONS.
